A healthy newborn can sleep only 90 minutes at a time.
This intense schedule can be overwhelming to any new mom. Mothers do so many little things and big things each day to care for their babies, but they often feel a sense that “nothing is getting done.”
And others, while they may be well-meaning, can reinforce this notion by wondering aloud what new moms “do all day.” This is in part because the little world of mother and new baby is largely hidden away in the home, unseen by others, hard to imagine and to connect with.
This project has two main goals. The first objective is to use photography to provide a way for new moms to step back and reflect on their own experiences.
Secondly, I hope to display this work in a public forum, in order to foster more understanding about this universal human experience, showing both the great lengths and the long hours put into this job as well as the rewards of it.
